APU’s streets are constantly filled with the mouth-watering smell of delicacies wafting through the air. There are countless of menus to choose from and we are here to share our favorites! Without further ado, here are a few of our recommended food vendors that you can find in APU!
うさぎととら (Usagi Totora) Usagi Totora is one of the food trucks that have withstood the test of time, and thus, earning a place in APU students’ hearts. Their menu, Yangnyeomchicken, has been everyone’s favorite since a long time ago, but other than the delicious chicken, they also sell Hotteok (Korean Sweet Pancakes), Korean corndog, and many more. You can also choose how spicy your food will be and the garnishes you’d like in your box. Opening days: Tuesday and Friday Price: 400 – 650円
からあげみやび (Karaage Miyabi) This stall is famously known as チーズチキン(cheese chicken). Fujiwara-San, the owner of the stand, has been selling tons of Karaage for 7 years. You’ll often see a long line of people waiting for their orders and coming out of the blue tent with a contented face. After ordering Fujiwara-San’s famous Karaage, we are given the choice to freely choose our own sauce and spices, thus allowing you to find the taste that’s more to your liking. Other recommended menus also included the Sho Karaage, Shokara Karaage, and かわ (fried chicken skin). Opening days: Tuesday and Friday Price: 300 – 600円
しげの石焼きいも (Shigeno Ishiyakiimo) The stand sells its menu according to the current season. During the breezy fall and winter, they sell Yaki Imo(Japanese baked sweet potato) to sweeten and warm up your university days. On the other hand, during the days of summer, they sell Soft Ice Cream and かき泳(shaved ice cream). Summer would not be summer without ice cream, and this stall is here to cool you down! Opening days: Tuesday and Friday Price: 350円〜
ことりカフェ (Kotori Café) The lady behind this stall has a shop in Nishi-Oita. Amongst the brilliantly-made menus, our favorite is the strawberry milk. You might wonder, what’s so special about its milk? It is because of how the process went down. The strawberry jam is fully handmade, hence the flavorful and authentic taste of strawberry truly stands out. She also sells a variety of heavenly cookies and treats that you can rarely find here in Beppu. Opening days: Friday Price: 250円〜
ソウルハッドグ (Seoul Corndog) We have another Korean cuisine food vendor here on our list! This stall is located right in front of AP House. They sell various types of Korean snacks and their corndog is one of our favorites. Their corndogs are especially crispy outside and flavorful inside. You get to experience a burst of flavor in each and every bite! Opening Days: Thursday Price: 500円〜
